What usually happens
- No hot water, or only lukewarm: usually the element or the thermostat.
- Water leaking from underneath: the safety valve, a seal or the tank itself.
- The RCD trips when it switches on: moisture in the element or the connections.
- Noises or cloudy water from the hot tap: limescale and sediment built up inside.
Repair or replace?
Replacing is not always worth it. A valve, a thermostat or an element can be changed in one visit. When the tank itself is corroded inside, any repair is short-lived and we say so plainly: you get both options with their prices and you decide.
If the heater is leaking, close its water inlet valve and switch it off at the mains while we are on our way.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to replace a water heater?
It depends on the capacity, the model and where it is installed. We quote for free and in writing before we start.
What should I do if the heater is dripping?
Close the water inlet valve to the heater and switch it off or unplug it. Then call us or send a photo.
How can I make a water heater last longer?
With hard water, draining the sediment and checking the anode now and then helps a lot. We can look at it on the same visit.
